Policies: Network Connections Within the INSCC Building
Please Note: The CHPC policies below are in addition to the University Policies referenced at the following URL's:
Policies:
- If personal machines (machines owned by an individual, not the University) are requested to be put on the network, your P.I. must give CHPC the approval.
- If CHPC doesn't have the root or administrator account. The machine may be connected to an untrusted network, (this means you won't be able to 'mount' departmental fileservers) and CHPC administrators won't assist in maintaining these systems.
- Windows 95/98/ME are antiquated operating systems with inadequate security and are not allowed on networks administered by CHPC.
- CHPC staff may periodically port scan machines in INSCC, to look for Windows9x/ME and rogue services/machines.
Please contact: the CHPC Help Desk with any questions regarding these procedures.
