UPDATE January 23rd, 2019

The rebuild finished and indications are that the /scratch/general/lustre is back to full functionality. 

Please remember that this is a shared resource and that performance will vary depending on the use by others. That said, if you believe you are observing performance issues, please send a report to helpdesk@chpc.utah.edu


UPDATE January 18th, 2019

With the work on the lustre file system yesterday the file system was unavailable for several hours, from about 3pm-6pm. This did impact running jobs that were making use of the space. Since then it has been accessible, but as it is a rebuild stage, there is no way to determine if the work completed has resolved any of the performance issues.

Once the rebuild is finished (at 60% now)  we will monitor the load and test performance to see if the work resolved the issues that have been observed. We will provide another update when we have additional information, probably during the first part of next week.

In the last few days we have had a number of reports of performance issues when using /scratch/general/lustre.   CHPC is actively working to address these issues.  While we do not believe that the work will be disruptive, we wanted to let all users know in case there is an impact to jobs that are making use of this scratch file system.
