In light of the rapid adoption of AI agents for software development and research project management, we are developing a set of policies to safeguard our multi-user systems. We plan to have these policies in place very soon. In the meantime, we provide a set of basic principles for users to follow.
We have migrated legacy systems for user and group management to the CHPC Portal. This change does not affect existing CHPC user accounts or their access to CHPC resources; however, there are some changes to account and project applications and processes. Notably, PIs can now invite and remove users from Portal.
The CHPC recognizes the need to have a forum covering artificial intelligence in research computing and software development, both for CHPC users and for the wider campus community. We will host AI-focused office hours and monthly, informal discussions on AI in research computing.
We have developed a new tool that helps users navigate the large number of GPU submission options available on CHPC systems. The tool's goal is to find and list GPUs that are available at a given moment, listing the best candidates. It reasons based on GPU availability, capability, and queue demand.

We are planning to update Lmod, which manages our applications' environment modules, to the latest version on our Linux systems in the first week of May.
