Two-factor authentication (Duo) to be rolled out to all CHPC resources beginning September 2
Beginning September 2, all users will need to use Duo for two-factor authentication when signing in to CHPC systems. University of Utah policy (Rule 4-004D III.B.3) requires the use of multi-factor authentication when logging in to university resources. Many CHPC resources, including those in the Protected Environment, already require two-factor authentication; this update will affect systems that currently do not.
Systems affected
On Tuesday, September 2, the CHPC will begin rolling out Duo authentication on CHPC systems. This will affect
- SSH and FastX access to Linux hosts, including the login nodes of the granite, notchpeak, kingspeak, and lonepeak clusters
- Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) access to Windows hosts, including the beehive server
