Welcoming Bill Miller to the University of Utah

We are pleased to welcome Dr. William L. Miller as the new Senior Director for Research Computing and Data at the Scientific Computing and Imaging (SCI) Institute and the CHPC. We also thank Prof. Thomas Cheatham for his leadership as Director of the Center for High Performance Computing from 2014 to 2025.

State-wide data archive available to researchers

With the aid of an NSF Campus Cyberinfrastructure (CC*) award, the CHPC has built a prototype state-wide archive system. This system provides infrastructure that allows researchers to satisfy the data sharing, resiliency, and retention requirements placed on published and complete datasets. The system will also provide an opportunity for researchers to explore sharing datasets with national data-sharing platforms (e.g., National Data Platform, NDP, and Open Science Data Federation, OSDF) to promote caching datasets close to computational resources.

Library survey about research data management practices and services

The Library's Research Data Librarians invite students, faculty, and staff at the University of Utah to participate in a survey about research data management (RDM) practices and services on campus.

Service updates

Service updates include software updates (MATLAB, IDL, Abaqus, Ansys products) and a note about the retirement of group storage on cottonwood5 and cottonwood6.

All websites hosted at the University of Utah must comply with WCAG 2.1, Level AA accessibility standards by April 2026 under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
